Travel to Cherrapunji, renowned for its awe-inspiring waterfalls and verdant valleys, where you can see the recognisable Seven Sisters Falls and the largest plunge waterfall in India, Nohkalikai Falls. Explore the enigmatic Garo Valley, home to native cultures, antiquated customs, and unspoiled natural splendour. This journey offers an authentic experience in the centre of Northeast India’s hidden jewel, complete with hazy mountains and gushing rivers.

Itinerary

  • Reach the airport in Guwahati.
  • Make the 100 km/ 2 ยฝ hrs trip to Shillong.
  • Make a stop at the picturesque Umiam Lake viewpoint en way (the largest artificial lake in Northeast India).
  • When you get to Shillong, register at the hotel.
  • Explore Shillong's local night markets after some refreshments.
  • Spend the night at Shillong.
  • Travel 35 km/02 hours to reach Mawphlang Sacred Forest by car.
  • Commence the 06-hour David Scot Trail walk.
  • Get to Mawladh.
  • You will then be transported to Cherrapunjee by being picked up.
  • Enter the hotel and check in.
  • Enjoy a leisurely evening.
  • Spend the night at the hotel.
  • Trek the Single Decker Bridge for three hours after breakfast.
  • Later, visit the Cherrapunjee local tourist attractions.
  • Drive back to the hotel afterwards.

  • Trek to Nongriat hamlet, a War-Khasi settlement at the base of a vast valley, after breakfast. The walk takes three to four hours.
  • Meet the local Khasi inhabitants at Nongthymmai, Tyrna, Umsohphie, and Mawshamok along the way.
  • Take a swim in the natural swimming pools and see the Double Decker Root Bridge, which is the longest living root bridge.
  • Evening social gathering and cross-cultural exchange with the Nongriat locals.
  • Spend the night at Cherrapunjee.
  • To get to Dalia a Garo Village in the foothills next to the Bangladeshi border, trek downwards for around three and a half hours.
  • Meet the village chief, who will guide you around the community.
  • The chief will give an explanation of Garo customs, traditions, and daily life. One of the three tribes of Meghalaya, together with the Khasis and Jaintias, is the Garos.
  • Spend the night at Cherrapunjee.
  • After breakfast drive to Guwahati airport ( 05 hrs drive), for onward destination.
