Jordan Trip Itinerary for 7 Days – A Perfect Blend of History, Adventure & Culture

Jordan is one of the Middle East’s most fascinating destinations, where ancient civilizations, breathtaking deserts, sacred religious sites, and warm hospitality come together. From the rose-red city of Petra to the surreal waters of the Dead Sea and the dramatic dunes of Wadi Rum, every day in Jordan feels like stepping into a different world.

This carefully designed 7-day Jordan trip itinerary helps you experience the country’s top attractions at a comfortable pace while soaking in its culture, landscapes, and heritage.

Day 1 – Arrival in Amman & City Exploration

Your journey begins in Amman, Jordan’s lively capital. After arriving at Queen Alia International Airport, check into your hotel and relax before starting your city tour. Begin with the Amman Citadel, located on the highest hill in the city. Next, visit the beautifully preserved Roman Theatre, which still hosts cultural events today.

In the afternoon, explore the downtown souks and enjoy local Jordanian cuisine. Don’t miss trying dishes like mansaf, falafel, and fresh hummus. End your evening strolling through Rainbow Street, a popular area filled with cafés, art shops, and vibrant street life.

Day 2 – Amman to Jerash & Ajloun

On day two, head north to visit Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities outside Italy. Walk through its grand Hadrian’s Arch, Oval Plaza, and Temple of Artemis, and imagine life during the Roman Empire. After Jerash, continue to Ajloun Castle, a 12th-century fortress built by Saladin’s forces to defend against Crusader invasions. Return to Amman by evening and enjoy a relaxed dinner at a traditional restaurant.

Day 3 – Amman to Madaba, Mount Nebo & Dead Sea

Leave Amman and drive south toward Madaba, famous for its ancient mosaics. Visit the St. George’s Church, home to the oldest known map of the Holy Land. Next, head to Mount Nebo, where Prophet Moses is believed to have seen the Promised Land. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Float effortlessly in its mineral-rich waters and enjoy a relaxing spa experience with natural mud treatments.

Day 4 – Dead Sea to Petra

After a peaceful morning by the Dead Sea, drive along the scenic King’s Highway to reach Petra, Jordan’s most famous landmark. In the afternoon, take a short walk through Petra’s entrance to see the Siq, a narrow canyon that leads to the ancient city. As you reach the end of the gorge, the iconic Treasury (Al-Khazneh) appears in dramatic fashion. Spend the evening exploring nearby streets and enjoying dinner in Wadi Musa.

Day 5 – Full Day Exploring Petra

Dedicate your fifth day entirely to discovering Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Walk through the ancient Nabataean city, visiting the Royal Tombs, Roman Theatre, and the Street of Facades. Adventurous travelers can hike up to the Monastery (Ad-Deir), one of Petra’s largest and most impressive monuments. Take your time soaking in the history and atmosphere of this extraordinary place.

Day 6 – Petra to Wadi Rum

In the morning, travel to Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon. This stunning desert landscape of red sand and towering cliffs feels almost otherworldly. Enjoy a 4×4 jeep safari to explore canyons, natural arches, and ancient petroglyphs. As the sun sets, the desert turns golden and crimson. Spend the night in a Bedouin desert camp, enjoy traditional food, and gaze at the star-filled sky.

Day 7 – Wadi Rum to Aqaba & Departure

On your final day, drive to the coastal city of Aqaba on the Red Sea. This is the perfect place to relax after your desert adventure. Enjoy snorkeling or diving among coral reefs, or simply unwind on the beach. Aqaba is also great for shopping for souvenirs and enjoying seafood. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward journey, bringing your Jordan adventure to a close.
